Deputy Finance Officer
 
The Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority is accepting applications for a Deputy Finance Officer.  An employee in this position must be detail oriented and self-motivated, and able to exercise independent judgment and considerable knowledge to apply generally accepted accounting principles and PTRWA policy in daily operations.
 
Under the administrative direction of the Finance Officer, this person will assist the Finance Officer with the planning, organization and direction of the fiscal activities of the Authority for the receiving, disbursing, and accounting of revenue and expenditures for the PTRWA.  This person will perform a range of accounting and customer service functions and may act in the absence of the Finance Officer. 
 
An employee in this class performs a variety of specialized accounting and data processing tasks including, but not limited to, journal entries, budgetary accounting, reconciling bank statements, assisting with year-end audit, generating financial reports, capital assets, capital expansion budget projects, grant management, payroll, human resources, and performing related fiscal duties.  Employee in this position will ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and ordinances and North Carolina General Statutes governing the responsibilities of local government fiscal operations.  In addition, the employee will act as a resource for other Authority employees, the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in the appropriate implementation and maintenance of fiscal and budgetary matters.  Employee has a variety of public contact with elected officials, external examiners and auditors, and the general public.
 
Selected finalist will be subject to substance abuse screening, background check, credit check, and reference check.  Desirable Education/Experience includes graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field plus experience in accounting, preferably in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of education or experience.  Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in NC Local Government Finance and certification as a CPA or NCGFOA Certified Local Government Finance Officer.  Valid NC driver license required.

Operations Supervisor
The Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority is currently accepting applications for an Operations Supervisor.  We are seeking a self-motivated leader with excellent communication skills to join our team in operating and maintaining our 14.7 million gallon surface water treatment facility, 13 miles of transmission lines, 2 booster stations, reservoir and buffer.  Under general supervision of the Water System Manager, this position performs responsible technical and skilled lead work in the operation of a surface water treatment plant and related facilities; performs responsible supervisory duties and coordinating schedules of subordinate personnel; assists Water System Manager with planning and oversight of daily operations; performs related work as required.  This position is available 24/7/365 and is actively engaged in always maintaining regulatory compliance.
 
The ideal candidate will have an education background in engineering technology, chemistry or environmental studies, have prior experience working in a surface water treatment plant with membrane filtration, be familiar with the State of North Carolina Public Water Supply Regulations and have prior supervisory experience.  Grade A Surface Water Treatment Plant Certification, Physical Chemical Grade I certification and a valid Driver’s License are minimum certification requirements for applicants for this position.  Distribution and Membrane Operator certification are also requirements of this position.  An applicant not holding these certifications will be required to obtain them within 18 months of employment.

Maintenance Supervisor

The Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Supervisor.  We are seeking a self-motivated leader with excellent communication skills to join our team in maintaining our 14.7 Million Gallon Water Treatment Facility, 13 miles of transmission lines, 2 booster stations, reservoir and buffer.  Under general supervision of the Water System Manager, this position performs responsible technical and skilled lead work in the electrical, mechanical and physical maintenance of a surface water treatment plant and related facilities; performs responsible supervisory duties and coordinating schedules of subordinate personnel; assists Water System Manager with planning and oversight of daily maintenance activities; performs related work as required.  Duties will include performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks necessary to maintain facilities, equipment and structures used in the storage and processing of water and wastewater.  
 
Desired applicant will have experience with industrial/mechanical/electrical equipment such as pumps, valves, piping, HVAC, forklifts and general knowledge of building maintenance.  Knowledge and experience with PLC’s and SCADA systems is also highly desired.  Rotating “on-call” duty is required for this position and applicant must have a valid Driver’s License.  The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree or equivalent in industrial maintenance, engineering technology, electronics, environmental studies or computer programming. Prior experience working in a surface water treatment plant and supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of education experience.  Maintenance Technologist, Grade ‘A’ Distribution, Pesticide Applicator and Water Treatment Plant Operator certification are requirements of this position.  A successful applicant not holding all of these certifications will be required to obtain them within 24 months of employment.

Utility Maintenance Technician

Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority is currently accepting applications for Water Treatment Plant Operators.  Employees in this position are responsible for participating in the operation and maintenance of a 12 MGD surface water treatment plant.  It is desired that employees have knowledge of the practices of water treatment and water purification analysis.  Knowledge of chemical tests applicable to water treatment, equipment maintenance, appropriate safety precautions, and mathematics applicable to plant operations is preferred. Must have understanding of the fundamentals of computer operation and written communication skills. Performs a variety of laboratory tests on water. Adjusts chemicals as necessary to maintain optimum plant performance.  Monitors a variety of equipment including water tank levels, periodic checks of equipment, including feed pumps, superpulsators, flash mixer, membranes, filters, pumps  and distribution system.  Maintains facility, which includes general housekeeping and grounds maintenance. 
 
Completion of high school or GED required.
